A severe thunderstorm warning was released by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 7:04 p.m. in effect until 7:45 p.m. for Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens as well as Nassau County.
Residents should prepare for wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
"At 7:03 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Brooklyn Heights, or over Crown Heights, moving east at 20 mph," states the weather service. "Expect damage to trees and power lines."
The following locations may be affected by the thunderstorm:
Forest Hills and Canarsie around 7:10 p.m.
Howard Beach around 7:15 p.m.
Jamaica and Flushing around 7:20 p.m.
Elmont and Little Neck around 7:30 p.m.
