HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- The Staten Island FerryHawks opened their three-game set in Hagerstown with a statement win Tuesday, riding a strong start from Alex Mack and timely hitting to take down the Flying Boxcars, 4-2, at Meritus Park, but then lost 9-8 Wednesday night.

The host team pushed across three runs in the home 10th Wednesday to erase an 8-6 deficit of losing pitcher Kirby Snead.

The Island club was led by Cristhian Rodriguez (1 for 5), who clubbed a three-run homer. Eddy Diaz and Tyler Dearden each went 2 for 5.

Staten Island, which fell to 44-51 overall and 14-18 in the second half, blew leads of 5-1 and 5-3 before Hagerstown tied things at 6 in the home seventh.
