The utility company is upgrading their technology to make communication with customers more efficient. Introducing a new interactive outage map. The improved technology aims to give customers more details about outages in their area.
"You can see that when it started, the date it started, the number of customers out, the cause," said Grant Shulte, corporate communications specialist for OPPD.
Along with the new map, OPPD will also be using what is called advanced metering infrastructure technology.
"What this will do is, if there is an outage in a home or neighborhood, it will send that information directly to us via encrypted, safe radio signals," said Shulte.
