BLAIR, Neb. —

The new chief of police for Blair is concerned about burnout for his officers. He says many of them are working overtime or picking up shifts.

He's requesting funds for five new paid positions for the 2025-26 budget.

The Blair Police Department has been under new leadership since April.

"Policing is not always just responding to 911 calls. It's getting out and making contacts in the community," Chief Jeremy Kinsey told KETV in an exclusive interview this week.

The new chief said he came into the department facing at least one specific challenge.

"We have some shifts that have very minimal officers, sometimes just one officer working and they get tied up on a call," Kinsey said.
