ADAMSVILLE, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Jefferson County Schools manage over 500 daily bus routes with more than 20,000 student riders, but some neighbors in Adamsville say the school system has been dropping the ball after they claim an unexpected arrest left their bus route vacant for months.
While the hum of school buses can be heard all around town, that was not the case for elementary school students who live near Gail Drive.
“It’s to the point where we just can’t really afford to go an entire, another school year with no bus drivers,” said Steven Johnson, a concerned parent with two children who attend U.W. Clemon Elementary School.
Johnson said this has been going on since at least February.
He and his wife both work, and the father said it has been tricky trying to get the kids to school
