Strong thunderstorms swept through southern New Hampshire Wednesday afternoon and evening, bringing wind, heavy rain, downed trees and power outages.

In Hollis, a tree fell in the middle of Wheeler Road, blocking traffic.

Police said crews worked to clear several roads that had been closed during the evening commute due to downed trees.

Hollis Police Chief Brendan LaFlamme said there were about four major problem areas around town, but many have already been cleared.

"The only really unknown is anything that involves wires because Eversource said they have a lot of crews out and about, but it's not just Hollis, so we don't necessarily have an ETA on when they will be done," LaFlamme said.
