MODESTO, Calif. —
A mother is seeking justice for her 30-year-old son, who was shot and killed in Stanislaus County this week.
"I owe it to my son to do anything and everything I need to do to bring justice for him,” said Amanda Mejia. “He didn't deserve this. No one deserves this."
She remembers saying goodbye to her son, Felipe Ramirez, on Sunday night, not knowing it would be the last time she’d see him.
"He gave me a kiss on my cheek," said Mejia. “He thought he was going to come home, and he didn't."
Early Monday morning, Mejia received a call with the devastating news. Her ex-husband called her to let her know their son was shot.
"He said somebody had posted something on social media,” said Mejia.
She said it wasn’t until six hours later that deputies confirmed her worst fear.
