Call it pickleball for the people.
A dilapidated tennis court at the governor's mansion in Santa Fe has undergone a major renovation that will soon be available for public use.
The nearly $280,000 project, started in mid-July and finished the first week of August, has transformed the court for both tennis and pickleball play.
"An online reservation system is being developed and will be launched soon, allowing residents to easily book court time and participate in activities," Jodi McGinnis Porter, a spokesperson for Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, said Wednesday.
Lujan Grisham, who raised private dollars for the project, held a grand opening Saturday, drawing a large crowd that included members of the University of New Mexico's tennis team. Donning a pink tennis skirt and big sunglasses,
