Intersection would honor playwright
Boyle Heights: The intersection of 1st and St. Louis streets would be renamed Josefina López Square under a City Council motion by Councilmember Ysabel Jurado. López grew up as an undocumented immigrant in Boyle Heights, and went on to write the hit play “Real Women Have Curves.” The playwright also founded the 99-seat CASA 0101 Theater on E. 1st Street, right by the intersection that would bear her name.
