A motorist died of his injuries hours after his SUV crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with two other vehicles in Gloucester County, according to police.

The 35-year-old Clayton man was driving south on Fries Mill Road, between Stanger Avenue and Arlington Drive, in Monroe Township around 10 p.m. on Saturday when he crossed the centerline for an unknown reason, township police said.

The man’s Hyundai SUV hit the driver’s side of a northbound Toyota SUV and then collided head-on with a northbound pickup truck, police said.

The Hyundai driver was taken to a nearby hospital and then flown to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he died of his injuries about nine hours after the crash, police said.

Police did not release the man’s name.
