The new owners of Waterworld say they were 'deeply saddened' by the death of a four-year-old girl following an incident at the attraction in Staffordshire.

The girl was found unconscious in the lagoon area of the UK's biggest aqua park on August 4. Emergency services attended the site, at Festival Park, near Hanley in Stoke-on-Trent. The girl was taken to hospital but sadly died.

On July 31, just days before the tragedy, Waterworld Leisure Limited and Waterworld Leisure Group Limited were purchased by the Looping Group - which already runs Drayton Manor and West Midlands Safari Park - it has been revealed.
