HONOLULU (Island News) -- Mai Tai's, the popular bar and live music venue at Ala Moana Center, is expanding to Waikiki.

The new, mini-version of Mai Tai's Bar and Grill is opening in the space next to IHOP along Ala Moana Boulevard at the bottom of the Aqua Palms Waikiki hotel.

Mai Tai's is owned by Hawaii-based Union Mak Corpration which also owns the franchises of Olive Garden, Texas de Brazil, IHOP, The Capital Grille and Longhorn Steakhouse in the islands.

No word yet on when the new Mai Tai's bar will open for business but the new establishment is deep in the building permit process.
