Childcare should never be taken lightly–sometimes a distraction can end in tragedy.
On Monday night, in San Luis Río Colorado, a three-year-old girl left her home unnoticed by those responsible for her care. A desperate search by her family, first responders, and community members ended with the heartbreaking discovery of the child’s lifeless body inside a canal near her home.
Young children are vulnerable, require constant supervision, and go through a stage of curiosity that demands permanent attention. In this case, it appears–sadly–that a lapse in that responsibility cut short a life still in its early childhood.
