About the Kaneohe Air Show, as a lifelong resident of Kaneohe, I have always enjoyed the periodic visits of these magnificent aircraft over our communities, quite often in my lifetime of 70-plus years.
As a young 5-year-old child, I remember vividly hearing the sound of jets warming up at the air station, now Marine Corps Base Hawaii. To me, these were comforting sounds, reminders that our islands were being protected and monitored for potential threats. Of course, this was immediately post-WWII.
