The Mud Hens got good pitching as usual, but the bats had a very rough go in this one.
Tanney Rainey started the game and tossed two strong innings with four strikeouts before turning it over to lefty Carlos Pena who is just up from Erie. Pena gave up a run in the third, but was otherwise solid. He struck out five and walked one, pitching into the seventh inning.
Rainer got a little help from Max Anderson, whose range is subpar but made a nice play here.
Meanwhile, the Clippers Aaron Davenport absolutely carved up the Mud Hens. He issued four walks, but struck out eight Hens across six innings of work. Apart from back-to-back walks to Akil Baddoo and Justyn-Henry Malloy with one out in the first, the Hens never had any kind of a threat going as they were one-hit.
Finally with two outs
