A mother and the man she was dating will spend years behind bars after the death of her 5-year-old son in Sacramento County four years ago.

On Aug. 3, 2021 , the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a child who was not breathing in the 2500 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard.

The child was taken to an area hospital, where he died two days later from his injuries. A medical evaluation determined that he had been subjected to abuse.

The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office said Jason Chitnis, who was 21 years old at the time, had been in a relationship with the child's mother, Dyamond Hudson . Hudson would leave the child in Chitnis' care while she was at work.
