A four-year-old girl who died following an incident at a Midlands water park has been named.

Vethavalli Vasu-Dharma was found unconscious at Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent on August 4.

Medics rushed the youngster, from Bradford in West Yorkshire, to Royal Stoke University Hospital, where she sadly died.

An inquest has now opened into her death, StokeonTrentLive reports.

According to the BBC , Vethavalli was found 'unresponsive and submerged in water' by a member of the public at the Festival Park attraction.

The tragedy resulted in Waterworld's temporary closure, but it has since reopened.
