If you crave covers of poignant spirtiuals, then you’re in luck: Robert Plant and Saving Grace have released their take on “Gospel Plough.” The track serves as the second dispatch from the group’s forthcoming album, Saving Grace .
Like the band’s previously-released cover of Low’s “Everybody’s Song,” their rendition of “Gospel Plough” is an intricate reworking told distinctly through the lens of roots music both decidedly modern and far older still. Through that perspective, “Gospel Plough” transforms from this “centuries-old spiritual number,” according to a statement, into this slow-burning, uber sensuous folk ballad that’ll grip you mightily in both heart and mind.
