A new UPS store and relocation of a private school for children with autism and emotional disabilities are a step closer to approval.

The Danville Planning Commission voted 7-0 during separate votes to recommend approval of the proposals during its regular meeting Monday afternoon. It now heads to Danville City Council for approval.

Piyush Patel and Kavita Shah plan to open the UPS store at Riverside Centre at 3308 Riverside Drive. The commission voted to recommend approval of a special-use permit for the business.

Shah told the commission they may open additional UPS stores in the area later.

“In the future, we’ll probably have more,” Shah said during a public hearing. “I think it’s a good investment ... and it will bring in more revenue and it’s good for the entire commun
