CHATHAM — A criminal complaint details what prompted sheriff's deputies in Pittsylvania County to serve warrants against the man charged following the Wednesday standoff in Pittsville.

The complaint also identifies a deputy injured in the incident as Molly Motley.

James Andru Lehnerd, 36, of 116 Blue Jay Lane in Pittsville, is charged with aggravated attempted murder of a law enforcement officer in connection with the incident.

The hourslong standoff occurred when deputies with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office attempted to serve two warrants and a protective order on Lehnerd at the residence Wednesday afternoon. The warrants were for trespassing and brandishing a firearm following an Aug. 9 incident.
