Buckingham Palace issued a tribute to Princess Anne to mark her upcoming 75th birthday - but a 'wild' blunder saw the post deleted.

Ahead of the Princess Royal's milestone birthday on Friday, August 15, the Palace released a list of 75 facts about her.

However one sparked confusion with eagle-eyed readers, who said it would be "one heck of a plot twist" if true.

The fourteenth 'fact' on the list saw the Palace claim the King's sister had two stepchildren from her second marriage to her current husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.

According to The Express , the names of the alleged stepchildren were listed as Tom and Amy Laurence.
