King Charles will make a special address to the nation to mark an important event tomorrow.
The monarch is set to echo his grandfather King George VI in a speech on the 80th anniversary of VJ Day on Friday, August 15.
VJ Day marks the anniversary of Japan’s surrender to the Allies following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, which effectively ended the Second World War.
The King will vow that the service and sacrifice of Second World War heroes will never be forgotten.
Charles will also reflect on the horrors experienced by prisoners of war and innocent civilians of occupied lands in the region 'whose suffering reminds us that war’s true cost extends beyond battlefields, touching every aspect of life'.
