GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A man charged in a case connected to the death of a Green Bay toddler pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of harboring or aiding a fugitive and obstructing an officer.

David Vanderleest and his son, James, were arrested in June at a cabin in Florence County following the suspicious death of 2-year-old Leo Escalante.

James Vanderleest is charged with first-degree reckless homicide, obstructing an officer, and bail jumping.

David Vanderleest previously requested a speedy trial, and Thursday reminded the court of the 90-day window. The court set aside three days for a jury trial beginning October 29.
