ALLOUEZ, Wis. (WBAY) - The Village of Allouez is hosting a public hearing next week to discuss next steps in the long-awaited closing of the Green Bay Correctional Institution.
Community members want clarity after Gov. Tony Evers used his line-item veto to remove the 2029 deadline in the state budget.
The village says local residents, stakeholders and other community members are encouraged to attend the meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, at Allouez Village Hall, 1900 Libal St.
State and local leaders will be there to outline steps towards the facility’s closure and address concerns.
