SISTER BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A group of Door County property owners is taking a recent circuit court decision to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
The case concerns how homeowners are allowed to use their properties if they choose to use it for short-term rentals.
Four couples sued the Village of Sister Bay over rules that forbid the use of more than four bedrooms for short-term rentals.
Earlier this month, a Door County judge ruled that the village can enforce rules that limit the number of bedrooms allowed in a short-term rental. Other bedrooms would have to be set up for other uses, the judge said.
The court called it a zoning ordinance and acknowledged the village’s concerns about overcrowding, parking and noise.
