SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Back-to-school season is in full swing, and universities around Springfield are welcoming students back to campus starting August 14. Between Thursday and Sunday, 3,500 students will call Missouri State University home.

Classes start on Monday, but throughout the next few days, the campus will host dozens of activities to break the ice. Even before then, students can start making connections that could last a lifetime.

“Be friendly and outgoing,” said Angela Strider, the associate director of Business Services and Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Services, “and that might mean we have to take a step outside of our comfort zone and really ask our neighbors, ‘Hey, what’s your name?
