TAMPA, Fla. — A southwest Florida woman took home the grand prize in the state's 2025 python removal challenge after she removed 60 Burmese pythons.
Taylor Stanberry, a Naples native, won $10,000 after participating in the 10-day competition that drew more than 900 participants from 30 states and Canada, according to a news release from Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC).
In total, the participants captured almost 300 of the invasive snakes.
"With over 1,400 pythons removed during all Florida Python Challenge events to date and over 16,000 pythons removed by FWC and South Florida Water Management District contractors since 2017, collective efforts are the key to continue addressing the threats Burmese pythons pose to Florida’s native wildlife and ecosystems," said FWC Chairman Rodney B
