PALATKA, Fla. — UPDATE: The lockdown at James A. Long Elementary School was lifted as of 12:42 p.m., according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
A Palatka elementary school has been placed on a modified lockdown due to a large law enforcement presence nearby, according to a Facebook post from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office said James A. Long Elementary School was placed on the modified lockdown, and added there is no direct threat to the school.
"The sheriff’s office and the Putnam County School District take the safety of our students, teachers and staff as our utmost priority," The sheriff's office said in the post.
