Estefani Castro , the lead producer of “Quixote Nuevo“ at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in downtown Ashland, stood on an unfamiliar stage Aug. 3: The garden patio of newly opened Tlalli restaurant about a half mile away .

Castro received enthusiastic applause performing original rap and classic Mexican mariachi songs during the Flor y Canto open mic event .

The boisterous evening of poetry and song celebrating love and liberation was hosted by the owners of the Latin cuisine restaurant, mixologist and restaurateur Freddie Herrera, chef Naz Orescan Campos and poet and culture bearer Manya Orescan Campos .

The owners designed Tlalli in Ashland’s historic Railroad District to be bold with spicy flavored dishes, hot pink decor and vibrant energy.
