SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – The footprint of ‘abnormally dry’ conditions in Central New York has now expanded.
This is according to the latest summary from the United States Drought Monitor, which accounts for the conditions through 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12.
Abnormally dry conditions in our area last week were confined from the Watertown area up into the St. Lawrence Valley. Now, that classification has been expanded southeast to include Syracuse and the Finger Lakes.
Less than 0.10” of rain has fallen across much of this area in the last 14 days, according to the New York State Mesonet reporting sites.
Since June 1, Syracuse has received 5.63 inches of rain, which is 3.34 inches below average. Less than an inch of that has fallen in the month of August.
In abnormally dry conditions,
