American automaker Ford is recalling about 103,000 of its popular F-150 series trucks for a bolt that may break in the vehicles' rear axle.

If the bolt fatigues and breaks away, the truck can roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.

The affected trucks are the model year 2023-2025 F-150 trucks with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle with a 3/4 float axle design.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rear axle hub bolt may fatigue and break, which can result in damage to the axle hub splines.

Dealers will replace the left and right rear axle shaft assemblies free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in phases, beginning August 18, 2025 through May 22, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332
