Tropical Storm Erin ‘expected to become major hurricane,’ says expert; latest forecast reveals what could be in store for N.Y., East Coast

Tropical Storm Erin is forecast to strengthen into a major hurricane in the coming days. While AccuWeather maintains that the storm will curve back out into the Atlantic Ocean, the potential remains for a direct impact on the East Coast.

“Environmental conditions north and northeast of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean will be very favorable for intensification and, as a result, Erin is expected to become a major hurricane this weekend,” AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alex DaSilva said.
