REMBERT — While one of the two Lowcountry women found dead in a rural part of Sumter County was shot to death, it is not clear how the second woman died.
An autopsy completed at the Medical University of South Carolina did not reveal any physical trauma on the body of Kristen Grissom, 38.
Authorities determined that both Grissom and Christine Marie McAbee, 35, died by homicide after their bodies were discovered in the Rembert area on Aug. 8. The cause of Grissom’s death is pending a toxicology report, the Sumter County coroner said Aug. 14.
McAbee was shot to death, Coroner Robbie Baker Jr. said at an Aug. 12 press conference with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Both women are reportedly from the Lowcountry, authorities said.
