Crews contain Burnt River blaze; Kirkfield out of control

Fire crews are making gains when it comes to quashing two stubborn wildfires in Kawartha Lakes.

Kawartha Lakes Mayor Doug Elmslie is “cautiously optimistic” after hearing news from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry that a fire near Burnt River (HAL019) is now classified as “being held.”
