CARTHAGE, Texas (KSLA) - A recent graduate at a school in east Texas did a good deed Thursday (Aug. 14).
The Carthage Police Department says Blair Cope, who graduated last year from Carthage High School, was making her may through the school’s parking lot Thursday when she spotted a fawn trapped in a grate.

Cope immediately took action and started trying to get the baby deer out of the grate. Sgt. James Patterson, who was working security detail at the school, was notified and then contacted the game warden, who was then able to offer steps they should take to help the fawn.
Cope was able to get the fawn out of the grate and carried it out of harm’s way.
She was able to give the baby deer some water, then released it into a safe place to be reunited with its moth
