A Seabrook police officer on leave from the department is now facing federal charges in Massachusetts for allegedly receiving videos showing the sexual abuse of children, prosecutors said Thursday.

John Giarrusso, 49, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, was previously arrested by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office on child pornography charges. He was arrested again Thursday morning on a federal child pornography charge, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Massachusetts.

According to the charging documents, prosecutors allege on or about Oct. 16, 2024 through Oct. 17, 2024 Giarrusso knowingly received video files depicting child sexual abuse on Kik. It is alleged that the victims in these videos appeared to be between approximately five to 11 years old.
