SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A group of airmen from Kirtland Air Force Base traveled in a helicopter to Santa Fe and hiked for multiple hours across rugged terrain at night to rescue three teens, one of whom had a medical episode, near Lake Catherine and Santa Fe Baldy earlier this month.
The crew recieved a call for assistance from the state at 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 2 regarding a group of three teens in need of help, one of whom was repeatedly losing consciousness, according to KAFB.
Airmen from the 58th Special Operations Wing and the 351st Special Warfare Training Squadron accepted the request and left the Albuquerque base in two helicopters and traveled 60 miles to the location of the hikers.
