KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Mike Davis, a longtime federal agent and the husband of state Rep. Elaine Davis (R-Knox County), has announced he is running for Knox County sheriff in 2026.
The county Republican primary is in May 2026, with the general election on Aug. 6.
Davis is a Knoxville native and has spent more than 30 years in law enforcement, serving with the Knox County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration. In a release, he said his campaign will focus on integrity, accountability and transparency.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to continue my efforts in serving Knox County, my home, and neighbors that I love so much. I chose a career path that focused on helping folks in need, keeping our streets safe from drug traffickers, and holding them accountable for the
