A Coronation Street star has left the soap after securing a West End role.

Carter J Murphy, who plays Harry Platt, has said farewell to Weatherfield after landing a huge new part.

The youngster, who enjoyed big-screen success last year when he played a young Robbie Williams in the biopic Better Man, has only been on the ITV show for a year.

However he has now made his exit to perform in Matilda the Musical.

Carter will be part of the touring production of the West End hit.

According to The Express , Carter was forced to leave as he was unable to fit his filming commitments around the tour dates.
