STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — In the immediate aftermath of a crash with injuries on Staten Island, an off-duty NYPD officer charged in the incident told police: “I had three or four drinks ... my life is over.”

While her statements in the heat of the moment may have been exaggerated, the personal and professional consequences of her actions do serve as a stark warning against drunk driving.
