HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) — Harlem Hospital is one of several locations where people were exposed to Legionnaires’ disease since the outbreak in Central Harlem, officials said Thursday.
The spread began in Central Harlem on July 25 with five reported cases of the disease. Since then, 92 confirmed cases have been documented, including three deaths and 15 hospitalizations, according to the city’s Health Department.
Many of the patients were treated at Harlem Hospital, officials said.
“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this cluster of Legionnaires, in particular the friends and loved ones of the three New Yorkers we lost to this disease,” Mayor Eric Adams said.
On Thursday, health officials held a press conference to announce locations found to be the origin points of the outbreak
