ROWLAND, N.C. (WBTW) -- A railroad crossing Robeson County will be closed Friday morning to allow crews to make emergency track repairs, officials said.

Purvis Road between North Carolina Highway 710 and Secondary Route 1145 in Rowland will be closed at 8 a.m. Friday. The road is expected to reopen by noon on Saturday.

CSX said its crews identified a rail defect in the crossing that required a "total closure of the roadway." No traffic will be allowed across the track until the work is completed.

Signs will be in place to mark the detour route. Officials said weather or other unforeseen conditions could delay the work and urged motorists to anticipate delays or avoid the area if possible.
