Aug. 14-24, a cast of all ages will be performing the hit musical “Annie” at the Sampson Community Theatre.

The classic musical based on the comic strip “Little Orphan Annie” tells the story of a young orphan girl during the Great Depression who gets adopted for a week by pompous billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Annie proceeds to get into all sort of hijinks and mischief in 1930s New York City.

“Annie has a lot of heart,” said the play’s director Linda Jewell Carr. “I think people will love the joy it brings. It has a happy ending and so I think it could bring people a lot of joy. We’ve been having a ball during rehearsals.”
