DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - A Honduran man was sentenced to federal prison for illegally returning to the United States after being deported.

28 year old Mario Barahona, of Honduran, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in September 2024.

Police say Barahona drove on the incorrect side of the road when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole.

According to court documents, he was previously deported in 2020.

Barahona was convicted of online solicitation of a minor in Montgomery County, Texas, before his removal from the United States.

Barahona was sentenced to more than one year in prison and a two year supervised release.
