ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — The mother of a young boy who was struck by a falling drone during a holiday show in Orlando has filed a lawsuit claiming the city and drone operators' negligence left her son with "traumatic and permanent injuries."
Video captured by people in the crowd showed the drones zipping through the air during the 2024 show at Lake Eola. Dozens of two-pound drones then collided and crashed into the crowd.
One of the drones struck Alezander Edgerton, who was 7 years old at the time, according to reports by NBC affiliate WESH. Edgerton's mother said the drone struck him with such force that it damaged one of his heart valves and he had to undergo open-heart surgery.
