DOWNTOWN — A 64-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with assault after allegedly shooting a stranger with a crossbow outside a Hanson Place apartment building at around 4:40 a.m. Aug. 13, police said.
Investigators alleged that suspect Joseph English approached a 56-year-old man who was smoking outdoors, told him “I’m going to shoot you,” and left. He then allegedly returned with the crossbow and fired, striking the victim in the hip, according to ABC News 7 .
The victim was treated at the scene and is expected to recover.
Officers retrieved the crossbow and arrested English, who was described by police as emotionally disturbed. He faces charges including assault, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.
