PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) -- A Pennsylvania Senator has introduced a bill that would allow terminally ill patients to use non-smoking forms of medical marijuana in hospitals in the Commonwealth.

The bill, also known as "Ryan Law," would create the Compassionate Access to Medical Cannabis Act. In his newest legislation, Sen. John Kane argued that the use of medical marijuana is currently a gray area due to marijuana being a Schedule I Narcotic, while also being legal for medicinal purposes in Pennsylvania.

The legislation is named after Ryan Bartell, who developed terminal pancreatic cancer in his early 40s. During his treatments in California, the hospital provided him with opioid medications that caused him to be sedated and unable to interact with those around him, including family and frien
