BLACK EARTH, Wis. (WKOW) -- TDS broke ground Thursday on a multi-million dollar project to designed to get internet into the rural communities of Dane County.

The build is planned to deliver 100 Mbps internet to more than 6,000 addresses, including Black Earth, Middleton and Verona, the village of Waunakee, as well as the towns of Cross Plains, Dane, Montrose, Springfield, Springdale and Vienna.

"As fast as we are continuing to grow here in Dane County, our success depends on partnerships and investments for every single resident, regardless of where it is that they live in Dane County," said Dane County Executive Melissa Agard.

Some customers are expected to be able to access services starting this fall, with the project planned to be completed in 2028.
