MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police have identified a suspect who stole money from a restaurant on North Bassett Street.

The crime was reported on Wednesday when the owner discovered that money was missing from the cash box, according to police reports .

Video footage revealed that the suspect, identified as Jose Lino, 64, of Madison, entered the restaurant while it was closed. He reportedly used a pipe wrench to break open the cash box and take the money.

Police recognized Lino from prior contacts after reviewing the footage.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to locate Lino.
