Star Village Coffee, a Native-owned coffee shop in Reno, announced July 29 on Instagram it will leave its 560 Mill St. location after declining a proposed lease extension.

Owners said the offer “did not reflect what we believe a sustainable partnership should look like, particularly for our small family-owned company.”

The shop did not respond to RGJ interview requests.

In its Instagram post, the business said the experience "has been a stark reminder of how difficult it remains for Native businesses to compete in today’s economic landscape. The historical marginalization of tribal communities is not just a chapter in the past, it continues to show up in how we access capital, real estate, and opportunity.
